AWS Cost Optimization

How to Reduce Your AWS Bill Without Reducing Performance

6 min read

Most AWS bills grow gradually rather than all at once — a few oversized instances here, some idle storage there. That makes cost creep easy to miss and, fortunately, usually possible to unwind without touching application performance.

The first place to look is usually compute: right-sizing instances to actual utilization, and matching commitment types (on-demand, reserved, spot) to how predictable a workload actually is.

The second is data: storage tiers, backup retention, and data transfer patterns are frequently set once at launch and never revisited as usage patterns change.
